我的“教育信条”

尊敬的各位领导,老师们,同学们:
大家好!非常荣幸在哈佛大学博士后开学典礼上发言。
1.我是谁?
我是合肥信息技术职业学院、安徽世杰电脑专修学院创校校长,现任董事长、党委书记和院长,兼任中国高等教育学会高等教育管理分会(清华大学)副理事长。
2.来自哪?
我来自安徽。
“徽”字里面有山,有双人,有糸,有文,共同组成了风采多姿的徽。
“山”:有意境万千的黄山,佛教圣地九华山,道教圣地齐云山。
双“人”:安徽历史上人才辈出,为各朝各代做出了卓越的贡献。有大明开国皇帝朱元璋(安徽凤阳人),父子宰相张英、张廷玉(安徽桐城人),红顶商人胡雪岩(安徽绩溪人),制墨大家胡开文(安徽绩溪人),北大首任校长孙家鼐(安徽寿县人),清华著名老校长周诒春(安徽休宁人),中国共产党的主要创始人之一和党早期主要领导人陈独秀(安徽怀宁人),教育家胡适(安徽绩溪人),教育家陶行知(安徽歙县人),两弹元勋邓稼先(安徽怀宁人),中国科学院院士、诺贝尔物理学奖获得者杨振宁(安徽合肥人),党和国家领导人胡锦涛(安徽绩溪人)、吴邦国(安徽肥东人)、李克强(安徽定远人)、汪洋(安徽宿州人)。
“糸”:仅举一例,徽州为例,境内溪流遍布,“八山半水半分田,一分道路和庄园”,是徽州世外桃源的真实写照。
“文”:安徽文化由徽州文化、淮河文化、皖江文化、庐州文化四个文化圈组成。“徽学”与“敦煌学”、“藏学”并列为国学大地方学科。安徽的黄梅戏脍炙人口,“文房四宝”享誉全国。
3.想干啥?
陶行知1891年出生在安徽歙县一个贫寒的教师之家。其父原来给他取的名字叫“文睿”,意思是希望他做一个知识渊博、聪明睿智的人。1914年,他以全校考核第一的成绩毕业于南京金陵大学文学系。在校期间,深入学习了明代理学家王阳明“知行合一”理论。由于对王阳明“知是行之始,行是知之成”的知行学说的认同和信仰,他将名字改为“陶知行”。1915年,他入读美国哥伦比亚大学,师从著名的实用主义哲学家、教育家约翰·杜威,攻读教育学博士。回国后,他从事平民教育,提倡杜威的教育学说。实践使他重新认识到行与知的关系,他认为“行是知之始,不行便不知”。1934年7月,他在《生活教育》上发表《行知行》一文,把王阳明的“知是行之始,行是知之成”,改为“行是知之始, 知是行之成”,把自己名字改为“陶行知”。
崇拜陶行知,效仿陶行知,先行而后知。
1976年11月,任安徽省寿县双庙公社王圩大队党支部书记。
上世纪九十年代,在中央电视台、中国教育电视台等全国二十多家电视台作计算机普及教育讲座。
1994年,以我名字命名的世杰教育肇始。安徽世杰电脑专修学院是我创办的第一所学院。
清华老校长蒋南翔号召:为祖国健康工作50年。崇拜蒋南翔,效仿蒋南翔。1976-2006,“行”了30年。2007年起,拟做两件事。
第一件事,再办一所高校。
2009年2月24日,安徽省人民政府皖政秘〔2009〕35号,正式批准设置合肥信息技术职业学院。2009年4月2日,教育部教发函〔2009〕84号《关于同意新设置的高等职业学校备案的通知》,合肥信息技术职业学院名列其中。教育部给的“身份证”号:14230。
第二件事,再“知”20年。
到中国科学技术大学攻读硕士学位,师从时任中国科学技术大学管理学院院长梁樑教授。
第一博士,法国尼斯大学博士(教育管理方向)论文答辩高分通过。
第二博士,法国蒙彼利埃大学博士(教育管理方向)论文即将答辩。
第三博士,法国巴黎高科博士(DEM,Doctorate in Education Management,教育管理博士)论文即将开题。
我国著名教育家、中国高等教育学科的创建者潘懋元先生的《潘懋元教育口述史》一书,由北京师范大学出版社于2007年1月正式出版。该书通过潘先生的口述,生动而平实地记录了潘先生作为一个教育家所走过的路——早年求学的艰辛和勤奋,中年“运动”中的动荡和“行万里路”的辗转,58岁开始创建中国高等教育学的奋斗历程。《潘懋元教育口述史》,特别是其中的《高等教育地方化研究》第211-214页,《高等教育大众化研究》第214-222页,《民办高教研究》第222-228页,《高职教育研究》第228-238页……如同指南针一样,为我指明了方向。《潘懋元教育口述史》是我高等教育理论启蒙书。从此,我通过所有可能的途径,竭尽所能如饥似渴地钻研潘先生的论著。潘懋元先生有关高等教育的论著是我从事高等教育理论研究的导航。崇拜潘先生,到厦门大学拜会潘先生,赠送“寿”字,聘其为我院高等教育研究所顾问。

受《潘懋元教育口述史》启蒙,拟花两个十年,把50年行知感悟写成专著。
效仿潘先生,第一个十年,只写而不出。潘先生亲笔写下:

第二个十年,到剑桥、斯坦福和哈佛等做博士后研究,将50年行知感悟写成的专著三审三校齐清定,陆续出版。
在尼斯博士论文答辩高分通过之后,陆续接到多所世界名校做博士后研究的邀请函,包括牛津、剑桥、加州伯克利、斯坦福和哈佛等。目前已经接受了剑桥、斯坦福和哈佛。

4.为了啥?
德国哲学家马克斯·舍勒(Max Scheler)认为,价值可以分为四种,第一种是感官价值,即是反映适意性与不适意性的价值,对应的是人的感官感受的舒适感和不舒适感。第二类是生命价值。第三类是精神价值,精神价值是在精神感受中被给予的,精神价值主要包括真、善、美、爱等。第四类是神圣价值,是在神圣感受和宗教感受中被给予的,如信仰、理想信念等。
马克斯·舍勒的价值秩序理论和马斯洛的需求层次理论很不一样。马斯洛认为低级需求满足了,高级需求才会出现。马克斯·舍勒的价值秩序理论认为,高级价值被奠基,低级价值的意义才会显现。
“没有爱就没有教育”,中国教育学会名誉会长、教育部社会科学委员会副主任、北京师范大学教育学部顾问顾明远教授提出的,他说,“我更愿意称这是我的教育信条。”
崇拜顾明远,效仿顾明远,我的“教育信条”也是爱。在怀疑的时代,我们依然需要信仰。我深情地爱着我的祖国和人民。我深情地爱着我的学校和师生,“因为你快乐所以我快乐,因为你成功所以我成功。”

My"Pedagogic Creed"
Distinguished guests, dear teachers and students,
Good morning! It is a great honor for me to speak at the opening ceremony of postdoctoral program at Harvard University.
1. Who am I?
I am the founding president of Hefei Information Technology University and Anhui Shijie Computer College. I am currently the Chairman, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Hefei Information Technology University. I am also the vice chairman of the Higher Education Management Branch of China Association of Higher Education (Tsinghua University).
2. Where am I from?
I am from Anhui Province in China.
The Chinese character “hui” in the word Anhui is composed of Chinese characters “shan”, “ren”, “si” and “wen”.
The Chinese character “shan” refers to mountain. In Anhui, the "mountain" is represented by scenic Mount Huang, Jiuhua Mountain, the Buddhist holy land, and Qiyun Mountain, the Taoist holy land.
The Chinese character “ren” refers to talents. A large number of talents have made outstanding contributions to all dynasties in the Anhui history, including Zhu Yuanzhang, the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty (from Fengyang County); Zhang Ying and Zhang Tingyu, the father and son prime ministers (from Tongcheng County); Hu Xueyan, a businessman supported by government (from Jixi County); Hu Kaiwen, a master of ink making (from JixiCounty); Sun Jianai, the first president of Peking University (from Shouxian County); Zhou Yichun, the famous old president of Tsinghua University (from Xiuning County);Chen Duxiu (from Huaining County), one of the main founders of the Communist Party of China and the main early leaders of the party; Hu Shi (from Jixi County) and Tao Xingzhi (from Shexian County) , two famous educators; Deng Jiaxian (from Huaining County), a hero of the two bombs; Yang Zhenning (from Hefei City), academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Nobel Prize winner in physics; Hu Jintao, (from Jixi County), Wu Bangguo (from Feidong County), Li Keqiang (from Dingyuan County), Wang Yang (from Suzhou City), leaders of the Party and the state.
When it comes to "Si": Let me give only one example, Huizhou, which is strewn with streams and creeks. "Amongst mountains half is water half is land..." is a true picture of the Sangrila-like Huizhou.
The Chinese character "Wen" refers to culture: Anhui's culture consists of four cultural circles: Huizhou culture, Huaihe culture, Wanjiang culture and Luzhou culture. "Hui Studies", together with "Dunhuang Studies" and "Tibetan Studies", are listed as the major local disciplines of Sinology. Huangmei Opera and the "four treasures of study" (writing brush, ink stick, ink slab and paper) of Anhui are well-known all over the country.
3. What do I want to do?
Tao Xingzhi was born in 1891 in a poor teacher's home in Shexian County, Anhui Province. His father originally named him "Wen Rui", hoping he can be a knowledgeable, intelligent and wise man. In 1914, he graduated from the literature department of Jinling University in Nanjing with the top grade in the examination of the whole university. While in school, he deeply studied the theory of "unity of knowledge and practice" of Wang Yangming, a Neo-confucianist of the Ming Dynasty. Because of the recognition and belief in Wang Yangming's theory of "knowledge is the beginning of action, and action is the result of knowledge", he changed his name to "Tao Zhixing", with “zhixing” meaning knowledge and action. In 1915, he entered Columbia University and studied for the doctor of Education under the famous pragmatist philosopher and educator John Dewey. After returning home, he was engaged in civilian education and advocated Dewey's educational theory. Practice made him recognize the relationship between action and knowledge. He believed that "action is the beginning of knowledge, and if you don't do it, you don't know". In July 1934, he published an article in "Life Education", changing Wang Yangming's "knowledge is the beginning of action, and action is the result of knowledge" to "action is the beginning of knowledge, and knowledge is the result of action", thus he changed his name to "Tao Xingzhi", with “xingzhi” meaning action and knowledge.
I worship and follow the example of Tao Xingzhi, and hold that we act and then we know.
In November 1976, I served as secretary of the Party branch of Wangwei Group of Shuangmiao Commune, Shouxian County, Anhui Province.
In the 1990s, I gave lectures on computer popularization education on more than 20 television stations across the country, including China Central Television and China Education Television.
In 1994, Shijie Education was founded which.was named after me. Anhui Shijie Computer College is the first college I founded.
Jiang Nanxiang, the old president of Tsinghua University, called on working for 50 years for the motherland in good health. I worship and followed his example. From the year of 1976 to 2006, I had been working for 30 years. Since 2007, I planned to do two things.
The first thing is to establish another university.
On February 24, 2009, the People's Government of Anhui Province (WZS [2009] No. 35) officially approved the establishment of Hefei Information Technology University. On April 2, 2009, Hefei Information Technology University was listed in the Notice on Approving the Filing of Newly Established Higher Vocational Schools (JFH [2009] No. 84) issued by the Ministry of Education. The "ID card" number given by the Ministry of Education is 14230.
The second thing is to "know" for another 20 years.
I went to the University of Science and Technology of China to study for a master's degree, supervised by Professor Liang Liang, dean of Management School at than time.
The first doctoral degree, doctorate of University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, France (Education Management Direction). My thesis defense was validated with a high score.
The second doctoral degree, doctorate of the University of Montpellier, France (Education Management Direction). My doctoral thesis is going to be defended soon.
The third doctoral degree, doctorate of ISTEC, Paris, France (DEM, Doctorate in Education Management). My research proposal is being reviewed now.
The book Pan Maoyuan’s Oral History of Education by Pan Maoyuan, a famous educator and the founder of higher education in China, was officially published by Beijing Normal University Press in January 2007. Through Mr. Pan's dictation, the book vividly and honestly records the path that Mr. Pan has taken as an educator — the hardship and diligence of pursuing his studies in the early years, the turmoil of "movement" in his middle age, twists and turns of "travelling thousands of miles", and the struggle course of establishing Chinese higher education at the age of 58. This book, especially pages 211 to 214 of Research on Localization of Higher Education, pages 214 to 222 of Research on Popularization of Higher Education, pages 222 to 228 of Research on Private Higher Education, and pages 228 to 238 of Research on Higher Vocational Education ... is just like a compass, pointing out the direction for me. The book gave me enlightenment of higher education theory. Since then, I have tried my best to study Mr. Pan's works hungrily through all possible channels. His works on higher education are my navigation in theoretical research of higher education. I have always admired Mr. Pan. I once paid a visit to Mr. Pan at Xiamen University and gave him the calligraphy as a gift — the Chinese Character "Shou" which means longevity. I also invited him to be a consultant of the Research Institute of Higher Education of our university.
Enlightened by Mr. Pan’s book, I plan to devote two decades to writing my fifty years' action and knowledge into a monograph.
Following the example of Mr. Pan, in the first decade, I will only write but not publish. Mr. Pan once said, “Dare to sit on the cold bench for ten years with not a single empty word in my article.”
In the second decade, I will go to Cambridge, Stanford and Harvard to do postdoctoral research, and publish my monograph, which is written with my 50 years' action and knowledge, after checking and proofreading three times.
After my doctoral thesis defense of the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis was validated with a high score, I successively received invitations from many world- famous universities to do postdoctoral research, including Oxford, Cambridge, Berkeley, Stanford and Harvard, etc. I have already accepted the invitations of Cambridge, Stanford and Harvard.
4. For what I have done so many things?
Max Scheler, a German philosopher, believes that value can be divided into four levels. The first level is sensory values, which reflects the comfort and discomfort of people's sensory feelings. The second level is values of life. The third level is spiritual values, which is brought by spiritual feelings. Spiritual values mainly include truth, goodness, beauty, love, etc. The fourth level is the sacred values, which is given by sacred feelings and religious feelings, such as faith, ideals and beliefs, etc.
Max scheler's Ethics of Values is quite different from Maslow's hierarchy of needs. Maslow thinks that only when the low-level needs are met can the high-level needs appear. However, Max scheler's Ethics of Values holds that the significance of low-level value will be revealed only when the foundation of high-rank value has been laid.
"Without love, there is no education", said Professor Gu Mingyuan, honorary president of China Education Society, vice director of Social Science Committee of the Ministry of Education and consultant of Beijing Normal University. He said, "I prefer to call it my Pedagogic Creed."
I admire and also follow the example of Professor Gu Mingyuan. My "Pedagogic Creed" is also love. In the age of doubt, we still need faith. I deeply love my motherland and people. I deeply love my school and teachers and students. "I am happy because you are happy, and I am successful because you are successful."
